Toyota is the biggest gun among Japan's Big Three, having beaten both Nissan and Honda to the U.S. market and, after initially failing to recognize the needs and wants of the American consumer, returned in the mid-'60s perfectly in tune with those needs and wants. Its large U.S. presence is supported by a global business that makes Toyota one of the world's largest multinationals. And the recent relocation of its U.S. headquarters to North Texas, along with assembly plants throughout the Midwest, South and Southeast, should allow it a product focus better geared to the needs of Middle America.
Today Toyota offers a wide range of compelling product, with the nation's perennial best selling car - the Camry - joined by other sedans, compacts, crossovers, a minivan and two pickup trucks. The least expensive entry on a Toyota showroom is the 4-door subcompact known as the iM, while the most fun would undoubtedly be the Toyota 86, a rebadged Scion then known as the FR-S. And if you're wanting to spend vast amounts of money, know that Toyota's most expensive entry, the Land Cruiser SUV, also delivers a vast amount of space.
